There is nothing half as wonderful as an evenly striped lawn. Lawns need to look clean and healthy, and it can be tricky when trying to find the best way to give care to your lawn. A lush green lawn really brings your garden to life, you can relax on it, and even your kids will love playing on it. Having the perfect lawn may seem impossible, but it is not. Choosing the right company to do your lawn work, helps you achieve that perfect lawn.
Achieving The Perfect Lawn In Duluth MN
Alternate Directions each time you mow
To help improve the health of grass blades, alternate directions each time you mow. Mow your grass horizontally one week then mow vertically the next for an even fuller lawn. Make sure your lawn mower is sharp to avoid tearing the grass. Alternating patterns encourage the grass to grow properly that is why many homeowners like to mow in different patterns. It also keeps the wheels of your mower from compacting the same area of the ground repeatedly. Alternating directions also keeps your lawn looking good.

Pay attention to water
Just like humans cannot do without water, so do plants. Plants need to be watered regularly to maintain its healthy look and to prevent plants from dying especially areas that do not get sufficient rain. Lawns need approximately one inch of water per week. Overwatering is harmful to your lawn, a great way to ensure you do not over water or wastewater is to put an inch container in the middle of your lawn and time how long it takes for it to fill. The best time to water your lawn is during the morning hours to avoid water from evaporating before it saturates your lawn.

Do not cut your grass too short
It is very common for people to want to cut their grass too short to avoid expenses of upkeep, however, cutting grass too short is harmful to your lawn because it exposes the seeds which result to a scorched lawn and proving conducive conditions for growth of weeds. Lift the blades four inches off the ground and cut it more often this shades the roots and will encourage a lash, fuller lawn. Trimming too short also loops off too much of the energy-producing top growth resulting in a week sickly lawn. Frequently mowing produces tiny grass clipping that can be left on the lawn to decompose providing nutrients for the soil.

Test the soil and apply fertilizer
Perform soil tests to check the alkalinity of your lawn soil. If the soil is slightly acidic, raise the pH level by adding pulverized lime to the lawn. To lower the pH of the soil, add organic materials such as peat moss. For soils with extremely high pH, amend it with iron sulphur or iron sulphate. Add fertilizer to your lawn to make it healthy. The main aim of the fertilizer is to favor grass, not the weeds that grow in it. Fertilizers applied to your lawn should contribute to root growth not merely to feed the lawn, so the grass is tall and green. Consider using organic lawn care products because they lack the chemical potency of synthetic blends that may cause harm to your grass when applied incorrectly.
